KIMONO WORK JACKET

KIMONO WORK JACKET is part of NMRO's ongoing research into permanent garments.

Rather than producing seasonal collections, NMRO develops a continuous body of work focused on proportion, material behaviour and everyday use. Each piece exists because it contributes to that investigation.

This kimono-inspired work jacket has been developed around the relationship between traditional wrap construction and utilitarian workwear. Its oversized silhouette, crossed front and adjustable waist create a distinctive structure while maintaining a practical and functional character.

Constructed from heavyweight dark indigo denim, the garment is designed around durability, material presence and long-term use. The construction combines a 10 cm extended collar with two buttonholes, a two-button front closure and a side fastening system that allows the front to overlap and create the characteristic crossed appearance.

The garment features one concealed upper pocket, visible externally only through its single topstitch, and two lower patch pockets with rounded flaps. All visible construction stitching is made with navy blue No. 50 thread, maintaining a tonal relationship with the denim.

Every detail is considered as part of the garment's construction rather than as decoration.

The denim is a 100% cotton fabric with a weight of approximately 320 g/m², a width of 150 cm and a sustained drape.

Fit

Designed with an oversized, relaxed silhouette inspired by traditional kimono proportions and contemporary workwear.

The crossed front and side fastening allow the garment to sit naturally around the body while maintaining its structured shape.

Care

Machine wash cold (30°C).

Wash inside out with similar colours.

Do not bleach.

Do not tumble dry.

Iron at medium temperature (150°C).

Do not expose to excessive heat.

Dry cleaning with perchloroethylene is permitted.
